Employee groups team up to celebrate Women's History Monthsgarcia

In honor of Women's History Month, two of Cambia’s employee resource groups, Women’s Employee Leadership Lab (WELL) and Home of Latinxs and Allies (HOLA), sponsored a special networking event organized by Partners in Diversity’s Latino Community Resource Group. Partners in Diversity is a local nonprofit that provides education and resources to help employers in Oregon and southwest Washington who want to attract, retain and develop a diverse workforce.

The topic for the event was, “The State of the Latina Economy and Securing Our Financial Future.” The discussions focused on the financial realities of professional women in general and Latinx women in particular. The evening included a panel discussion and an opportunity to network with other local professionals and enjoy delicious food and beverages. Some Cambia employees volunteered at the event and other participated as attendees. Tanya Macedo helped coordinate the event as both Cambia’s diversity, equity and inclusion program manager and co-chair of the Partners in Diversity's Community Engagement Committee.

We asked a few attendees about their experience:

Saavedra Gonzales, HOLA ERG co-chair: "The event was invigorating as we gathered to exchange stories, share best practices and explore the intersections for community support. HOLA was honored to be present. On behalf of HOLA, we extend our gratitude to Cambia for hosting the event and supporting Partners in Diversity and our community. We look forward to the momentum and connecting with those from the event."

Angela WU, WELL ERG co-chair: “It was a very successful event! I appreciate the opportunity to connect with people. I loved seeing all the energy Partners in Diversity brought to the event! WELL is proud to be supporting the event and being part of the community. Reflecting on Cambia’s mission to serve our community, this was a great opportunity to showcase our commitment to equity across communities. WELL appreciated this opportunity to cohost with HOLA and our HR team and would like to continue to contribute where we can!”

Nydia Peña, program manager, Partners in Diversity: “Our community resource groups provide the opportunity for professionals of color to connect, build community, support each other, and grow in a safe space. It’s truly inspiring to see the power of community unfold, empowering us to embrace authenticity and continue to grow stronger together.”
